VERB “TO BE” =  SER O ESTAR

I am	Yo soy/estoy
You are	Tu eres/estás
He /She/It is	El/Ella/Ello es/está
We are	Nosotros somos/estamos
You are	Vosotros sois/estáis
They are	Ellos son/están

They are tall= Ellos son altos                He is tall = El es alto.

They aren’t tall = Ellos no son altos      He isn’t tall = El no es alto.

Are they tall? = ¿Son ellos altos?           Is he tall? = ¿Es él alto?                                         

                         ………………………………………………………….

When we don’t have the verb “to be” in a sentence:

We play tennis                                    He plays tennis  

We don’t play tennis                          He doesn’t play tennis

Do we play tennis?                             Does he play tennis?

                      ……………………………………………………………….

THERE IS = Hay (se usa para el singular)

There is a horse = Hay un caballo. 

There isn’t a horse = No hay un caballo

Is there a horse? = ¿Hay un caballo?

THERE ARE = Hay (se usa para el plural)

There are some donkeys = Hay algunos burros.

There aren’t donkeys = No hay burros.

Are there any donkeys? = ¿Hay algunos burros?
